PV Glass Facade Panels

PV glass facade panels are made of 2 layers of hardened and laminated glass. The silicon solar cells are positioned between both glass layers. To the front glass layer we apply a ceramic color print. The printing method is a special patented process that allows the print of uniform (RAL) colors but also any desirable pattern or even full-color photoprint. This printing method covers any sight on the integrated PV cells, but still allows enough solar radiation to pass through. Many sizes and shapes between 300x600mm and 1400x2600mm are possible. Following shapes are possible;

– Hexagon

A PVT glass facade panel is the same as a PV Glass façade panel, basically the same size, shape, print and color. The thermal function is an addition that makes it possible to extract heat from the PV glass façade panel which can be used for heating a building. This actively cools the PV glass façade panel, improves the efficiency of the built-in solar cells and creates a higher yield of electricity.

In case of a PVT Facade system, we can identify different power sources; electricity, heat and cooling. In order to use these power sources efficiently, AFS Solar applies a smart energy management system that is capable to direct heat energy in 2 directions. This means that supply and demand of (heat) energy is actively balanced in a smart way.

The AFS Q-hook installation system offers the best possible visual quality for your PV glass panel façade. It is bonded to the back sheet glass of the PV panels. This makes the entire installation system invisible from a slight distance. The Q-hook installation system is especially designed for all kinds of glass panel facade systems. It is versatile in the way that it can be adapted to any panel size and it also carries the thermal panels for the PVT system. The installation principle of the Q-hook system is common practice for any facade installation specialist around the globe. The gap between panels is 10mm nominal.

Mechanical PV Glass Facade Panel System

For situations where bonding of the glass is not allowed or a simple mechanical fixation is adequate, AFS Solar offers a cheap and easy to install mechanical fixation system. Only some small clamps are visible. The installation is straight forward and easy. A façade specialist is not required. Anybody with some general building installation experience can do the job. This system is typically suitable for smaller surface area project till 10m height. The minimum gap between the panels is 14mm nominal.
