Aluminium Honeycomb Panels
All facade systems at AFS International are developed and fabricated as high-quality products. AFS International offers various facade solutions, fit to the customer’s needs. For example, our Q-ventilated line consists of different open or closed joint systems. These systems are called ‘sandwich panels’: two architectural panels encase the ‘honeycomb core’. This core consists of an aluminium hexagonal pattern. This solidity comes from the shape of the hexagon. These shapes allow a perfect linear joining with one another. This is the technique applied in our aluminium honeycomb panels.
Our honeycomb panels can be found all over the world e.g. the Jameel Art Centre in Dubai and the Nhow Rai Hotel in Amsterdam.
Honeycomb Panels Aluminium Structure
Due to the perfect aligning of the hexagonal pattern, the space between panels will be optimally utilized. This results in a very strong and proportionally divided interior of the panel. Notorious for being light weight and yet very strong, a core of aluminium honeycomb panel is able to span large panel dimensions with a easy subconstruction. The weight will be equally divided because of the hexagonal structure.
Honeycomb Panel Products by AFS International
All or our aluminium honeycomb solutions consists of two aluminium skins with aluminium honeycomb core. We have a standard range of systems but also develop new systems according project specifications and requirements.
Each system has its own specifications and features, though the aluminium honeycomb panels are installed in the same way. The honeycomb panel has its own remarkable quality: because the hexagonal pattern results in optimal use of space between the panels, the solidity is very high. This aluminium layer sits between two outer panels as though it is a ‘sandwich’. This honeycomb core is connected to the outer metal panels with two-component polyurethane glue. This particular product is used to secure the architectural panels. It keeps its sturdiness and yet remains elastic. The standard outer architectural panels are made of aluminium as well but can be made out of other metals (zinc, titanium, copper, brass or stainless steel) on request.
Aluminium is a very light weight metal
Aluminium weighs in at about the third of the weight of steel. On average it weighs around 2,7g/cm3. This is a big reason many architects consider using aluminium when cladding. The process of installing the aluminium panels, aluminium louvres or aluminium facade systems will be much easier due to the weight.
Aluminium is very resistant to corrosion
Corrosion does not affect aluminium due to its protective oxide coating. Unlike copper, the weather conditions don’t influence aluminium. It won’t rust and corrode over time. This makes aluminium a great material to built with, aluminium will last for several decades!
Aluminium is flexible
Aluminium is one of the easiest metals to melt and bent. The melting point of aluminium is very low making it easy to shape. Because it is also flexible, aluminium is used widely by architects for special designs that require curved or uncommon shapes.
Aluminium is completely recyclable
If you choose aluminium cladding you choose sustainability. Aluminium is recyclable and won’t lose any of its quality in the process. Aluminium is remelted all the time and the process takes little energy.
Aluminium Cladding in the AFS product line
Architects often choose aluminium for wall cladding. Aluminium can be easily formed in various shapes, sizes, and finishes, making it a metal that can be used for various purposes. AFS International supplies aluminium panels/louvres/facades all over the world.
Panel systems and cladding systems can be fabricated with aluminium as the main material. Our Q-Excellent and Q-Linex systems are good examples of products we supply in aluminium. Please keep in mind we offer custom made designs if needed, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you need a custom made aluminium cladding solution.
