Various types of metal can be used for wall cladding. Stainless steel Cladding and cladding itself is a high quality, sustainable solutions for maintaining the facade of a building over the years. Common materials used for cladding are zinc, copper, aluminium and stainless steel. Every metal has it’s own features and advantages.
Why Stainless Steel cladding?
When comparing stainless steel to zinc, we find that stainless steel has a more glossy and polished finish compared to Zinc. Stainless steel is more aesthetic which can be a good quality for a building. However, Stainless Steel is used more in a decorative manner. Stainless steel is easy to install and implement the architectural facades of any building.
Stainless Steel cladding has very high durability. For decades the metal panels installed on the facade won’t change in appearance. Compared to copper this is a definite advantage. Stainless Steel is also very resistant to corrosion due to its self-healing qualities. When oxygen is around the stainless steel panel an invisible layer with chromo oxide (cr203) forms. This layer protects the metal underneath making the material looking smooth and polished again.
Stainless steel is an environmentally friendly material. Stainless Steel cladding lasts a lifetime and can be recycled completely. A very large part of Stainless Steel production is made with recycled parts of stainless steel. It can be used over and over again making it very durable steel.
